Watch the Walls

If one of your rooms needs a whole new look but you can’t afford much, start with the walls. A tin of paint costs hardly anything at all, and a new color is one of the best ways to transform a space. You don’t even have to paint every wall from top to bottom. You could choose a feature wall to focus on, or you could add a new colour to the skirting board. Wall decals are another excellent way of adding something different to the room. You just have to stick them on. And you should be able to remove them quickly when you don’t want them anymore.

Hunt for New Textiles

When you’re bored with your bedroom or living room, in particular, look for new fabrics to switch things up. It doesn’t cost much to find cushions, bedding or even tablecloths to give a room a new look. There are lots of places you can find things you like, from chain stores to the internet. Don’t worry too much about finding items that are unique. If you find a cushion you like in Target, it doesn’t matter if hundreds of other people have it too. It’s affordable, and you like it, so take it home with you.

Cost-effective Lighting

Getting some new lights can make a world of difference. Whether you get some brighter bulbs or go for a bolder colored bulb, it makes a fun change. You might be surprised at how much a different light can change the look and feel of a room. For example, GU10 LED bulbs will give you a spotlight effect and look great. LEDs are great value too because they’ll save you money on your energy bill. Getting a new lampshade is also a fantastic way of switching up your lighting.

Reuse and Recycle for Cheap Decoration

If you want to add some ornaments to your home but you don’t want to spend too much, think about what you already have. For example, if you have empty wine bottles, you can turn them into lamps. Buy a readymade cork LED light or make one yourself. You just need to put the cork into the bottle and turn the light one. You could make your own cushion covers too, using old t-shirts, sweaters or shopping bags.

You don’t need to spend a fortune to give your home a makeover. Save money by finding the small ways you can make a big difference.
